March 16--It Takes Time

Wishing to be friends is quick work, but friendship is a slow-ripening fruit.

    This makes me think of the skit Travis Kelce (Super Bowl champ) did on Saturday Night Live: "Straight Male Friend." (Watch the whole SNL episode from March 4--it's a riot!) The gist of the skit is that gay guys who have lots of dramatic girl friends occasionally like the "no pressure" fun of hanging with a straight male friend. The SNL writers did a super job of showing off Kelce's talent. 

    I did not grow up in an environment that inspired trusting people. I've always taken it slow with creating friendships. It seems to me that the longer the development process, the stronger the friendship is over time.

    Facebook is "wishing to be friends is quick work." The "slow-ripening fruit" of true friendship is in real heart-to-heart connection.
