--Joyce Carol Oates
I've gone to lots of places, and more often than not, when I get there, I go to a major league baseball game. I guess that means I'm a sports nut, especially about baseball. That would be true.
Wherever we go, what if we arrived there with a sense of wonder? Curiosity? Willingness to explore and learn? I get to see my 5-month-old grandson soon, and he is all about wonder and curiosity because everything is new. Could we, as jaded adults, take a sense of wonder into the grocery store? Where does all this stuff come from? The bounty is seemingly infinite most of the time. How do they make Reese's peanut butter Christmas trees? Why are eggs so expensive? Do we really need that many varieties of potato chips? When I shop, I tend to get in and get out with the minimum amount of stuff and distance covered, but it could actually be quite an adventure.
Routine does not have to be boring.
