January 5--Where's the Fruit?

Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter. Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom? But we hope it; we know it.
--Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Here we are at the beginning of another year. In some respects, the past couple of years have beaten the crap out of us, like maybe the "fruit tree" died. But hope springs eternal. We are alive, so we keep moving forward, plugging ahead, doing the next right thing in front of us. We can get bogged down in all the difficulties of humanity and planet Earth, or we can forge ahead doing the best we can each day. Really, what more can we do? Just like the fruit tree, we have dormant recovery time, and at the appropriate time, we blossom and bear fruit. Every bit of that cycle is necessary both for the tree and for us.
    Continuing to practice life,
