August 22--Let It Go

Those who are free of resentful thoughts surely find peace.  --Buddha

Already at this early hour, life is telling me to let it go. I just saw a heading in passing that reads "Judge Not." My morning meditation from The Center for Action and Contemplation is all about seeing God in everyone and everything. I'm the treasurer of an organization run by volunteer power, and there are several members who are quite vocal about their dissatisfaction. This reminds me to breathe and remember that in all things, everyone is doing the best they can at the moment. Let it go--the judgment, resentment, angst.
One of the major ongoing projects of 12-Step life is to clear long-held resentments and keep from taking on any more. In a society whose main function appears to be judgment, peacefully living without resentments is no small challenge. There is so much fodder for criticism, but note how peace and criticism are on opposite ends of the spectrum of a good life.
Letting it go, again and again and again...
