--protest sign, Mary Poppins song parody
That was one of my favorite signs at the NO KINGS rally in Wichita on Saturday. There were so many great signs and costumes. The enthusiasm was inspiring, along with photos of the huge crowds that gathered around the country.
Saturday also happened to be my 70th birthday, so it was quite thrilling to have millions of people out in the streets celebrating with me! I now have two gorgeous bouquets of flowers, heavy on the lilies, my favorite. My son ordered a carrot cake from a local bakery, and my guests and I devoured that at the party and game night I arranged at a local bar. No cooking or cleaning on my part, so it's a great way to have a party. About two dozen folks showed up and made it a super birthday celebration.
I've reflected that turning 60 was hard for me, but 70 has not been bad--I'm just happy to be here still!
